The State of Kansas began keeping Birth and Death
Records in 1911. Russell County Historical and Genealogy Society
has an extensive research and photograph library
that includes pre-1911 records. Early day residents
recorded these records and often times included
information not easily found such as: dates, where
the family lived, occupations, church affiliation,
civil organizations, funeral arrangements and
cause of death.
Some of the other documents available for
research are Census Records, City Platt books,
Cemetery Platt books, school histories; maps and
much more are available to those researching former
Russell County residents.
Out-of county researchers: For a minimal
fee, our staff will lookup genealogical information
and send copies to those who request the service.
For more information contact the society by phone
(785) 483-3637 or
rchs@russellks.net or by letter.
