The Fossil Station Museum, a
fortress-like structure built in 1907, was
originally the county jail, the sheriff's office and
his living quarters. The building was restored to
its turn of the century luster in 2000. Rooms and
vignettes display historically sociality and
economical artifacts used or created by Russell
County residents from the mid- 1800's to the
present. The Russell County Historical Society
office Genealogy Department is also located in the
museum.
